Airtemp was selected to supply and install mechanical services as part of an £8 million design and build project. Starting in January 2013, the project involved demolishing outdated station buildings and constructing a state-of-the-art railway station and transport interchange to enhance passenger experience for the Dartford community.
Project Scope
The new three-story station was designed to improve facilities for both passengers and staff, incorporating:
- A modern ticket office, retail outlets, and upgraded passenger amenities.
- A temporary ticket office, alongside the refurbishment of the station footbridge and platform buildings.
- Rewiring and relighting of platforms, canopies, the covered bridge, stairwells, tenant spaces, and previously unused rooms.
- Integration of the existing footbridge into the new station design.
- Platform enhancements, including extended canopies, new staff accommodation, impact mitigation measures, and glazed wind screens.
Mechanical Services Installation
Airtemp’s role in the project included:
- Full heat recovery ventilation and extraction systems.
- Mitsubishi Electric VRF systems for heating and cooling across three floors.
- Mechanical heating services, including gas-fired boilers and hot and cold water services.

By delivering high-quality mechanical solutions, Airtemp played a key role in transforming Dartford Station into a modern, efficient transport hub.
